After learning from the media about the suspicion of potential sexual harassment of male and female students by the employees, the Protector of Citizens launched an investigation into the legality and regularity of the work of the Faculty of Architecture, Belgrade University.

In this regard, the Protector of Citizens asked the Faculty Administration to notify him within ten days from the date of receipt of the document on launching the investigation on whether the Faculty has already received the reports on sexual harassment. If yes, what was done in this regard, and if not, what it will do regarding the allegations posted on Instagram.

The Protector of Citizens reminds that in 2021 Belgrade University has adopted the Rulebook on prevention of and protection from sexual harassment specifying activities and measures that the Faculty needs to undertake, one of which is the existence of the equality commissioner in every institution of the University of Belgrade. During the investigation procedure, the Protector of Citizens will determine as well which prevention measures the Faculty has undertaken or failed to undertake.

“Zero tolerance” for sexual harassment and instructing male and female students of this Faculty to overcome fear and to file reports, and it is up to the state bodies and institutions to take measures within their competence, Zoran Pašalić, the Protector of Citizens, emphasizes.

At the same time, Pašalić has called on all male and female students who have approached the Faculty administration due to potential sexual harassment by the employees to address the Protector of Citizens as well, enjoying full personal data protection.
