Upon learning from the media that a group of migrants at the Bogovađa Asylum Center forced the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration employee to kiss a rug used for their religious ritual performance, the Protector of Citizens launched own-initiative investigation to control the work of the Commissariat in order to determine the circumstances of the case, as well as the degree of safety in the Center.
Expert associates of the Emergency Response Department of the Protector of Citizens will visit the Bogovađa Asylum Center in the coming days in order to gather information about the incident, determine the reasons for it and the arrangement of the Center’s security.
In the investigation to control work legality and regularity of the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration launched following a video clip of the incident at the Bogovađa Asylum Center, which was posted on social networks, the Protector of Citizens has requested the Commissariat to submit information on how the security of Bogovađa Asylum Center was organized, as well as what measures will be taken in order to put safety in place.
The Protector of Citizens also asked to be informed whether the competent administrative bodies had been informed about the incident and whether the Ministry of Interior had been taking measures within its competence.
