Further to the information from the media that eight children were injured when the main pillar of the carousel collapsed in Kolut near Sombor, the Protector of Citizens launched own-initiative investigation to control work legality and regularity of the Sombor City Administration.
The Protector of Citizens requested information from the Sombor administration on all relevant facts and circumstances of this case, and in particular whether the owner of the funfair had a permit to set up a carousel, whether he possessed a certificate for a carousel and if so, who issued that certificate for functionality and safe operation of the carousel.
Sombor City Administration was given a 21-days period to submit the requested statement with the available documentation on the actions of the competent city authorities in that case.
